CANYONING

CANYONING

PAX: MINIMUM 2 PERSONS
SUITABLE FOR: AGE 10 AND ABOVE

[display / hide description]

It is the best seller and not only for adventurous people. It is challenging and big fun but not too hard. No repelling / abseiling or technical climbing involved.

You will be taken by van to the starting point in the mountains. Then you follow a remote river and canyon for several hours. It is not a long or hard walk, but one has to be "surefooted" since most of the walking is in or along the riverbed. So also younger and older people are fine with the activity if they can balance on stones and rocks. You will be equipped with special non-slip boots, helmet and also a life vest.

The Cyan guides assist you along the way and also take photos of the whole group in action. There are some 3 to 4m high jumps, so you will get completely wet during this tour. If you dare you can also do the famous 12m jump.

HIDDEN WATERFALLS

HIDDEN WATERFALLS

PAX: MINIMUM 2 PERSONS
SUITABLE FOR: ALL AGES

[display / hide description]

This is our family tour! You will walk only short (maximum 30 minutes) to some very amazing waterfalls in the south of Cebu. Hop inside, take a swim or just relax and make pictures of the serene places of natural beauty.

This tour includes 2 different waterfalls and also a complete lunch.

HIKING TO OSMENA PEAK

HIKING TO OSMENA PEAK

PAX: MINIMUM 2 PERSONS

[display / hide description]

Our trek to the highest peak in Cebu is not too challenging. We start in the town of Mantalongon and then hike for about 1 1/2 hours and 300m in height. The peaks look a bit like the chocolate hills of Bohol and if the weather is good, you might even see all the way to Bohol and Negros.

After coming back to Mantalongon, you will explore the famous local vegetable market and eat in one of the local eateries with traditional food. On request we are happy to schedule a longer hike with 5 to 6 hours hiking and about 800m in height difference (It can be hot from March to June).

INSECT NIGHT TOUR

INSECT NIGHT TOUR

PAX: MINIMUM 2 PERSONS

[display / hide description]

Explore a hidden animal kingdom - the world of the insects.

You will be picked up in your resort at 4:30 to 5pm and then drive for about 30 minutes to a dry riverbed. Still someday light ahead, you and your group enter this river bed and have a quick snack. When it gets dark you slowly walk the same way back for about 2 hours and look for insects.

It takes some time first to learn how to spot them, but our guides will show you how. There is nothing tobe afraid of. However you should be confident in the dark to fully enjoy this tour.

Activities, you shouldn't miss

are usually added "ad hoc" to the diving schedule or organized separately during the day. Enjoy an undisturbed relax & swim in the blue sea at White Beach, a very long, solitary and untouched beach of fine coral white sand, while divers explore wide coral gardens. Non divers are always welcome on the boats during diving excursions, free of charge.

Usually boats wait for divers anchored to buoys, most of the times over coral gardens, in crystal clear waters, defended against strong currents. These ones are excellent spots for swimming and snorkelling. One more spot we would highly recommend to our swimmers and snorkellers is Sampaguita's House Reef right in front of the Resort. During high tide, you easily spot and admire abundant and rare forms of marine life right at your doorstep.

For the non divers is a short introduction course to underwater activity. At the end of it even non-certified water enthusiasts can try their first dive in the small underwater heaven in front of the resort; in totally secure waters, at a depth of a few metres and under the dive master's supervision. For all those who reveal their diving passion and consequently wish to carry on in the specific training, it is possible to complete in less than a week your open water course and get certified. It is also possible to have an advanced open water course with only 4 days available. Another remarkable and very popular "activity", most appreciated by all ladies, is to regenerate, even daily, with relaxing massages at low costs.

There's so much more to do and to explore!

Moalboal market is held every morning, starting at 5.30 AM and 4.00 PM. The free shuttle gets you to this colourful and lively place! Stalls packed with fresh fish, vegetables, tropical fruit and working tools create a fascinating atmosphere that cannot be found anymore in "normal" Western markets.

Not far from the market place is the bus stop. This public transportation is originating from Cebu City and it’s absolutely worth observing. The various kinds of vehicles are loaded (if not overloaded!) with cargo, animals and humans. You will see everything from refrigerators to pigs, and to the student going back home for holidays on the move. On the other side of the road is the main square, from time to time turned into a soccer field or into an arena for national celebrations or local folkloristic events. Also close by is Moalboal church, where Mass is celebrated at sunrise and where on holidays practically everybody from the surrounding villages converge.

Bring extra memory cards for your camera! Chances are high that you wish to take many more unique and vibrant coloured snapshots than expected. That’s most of all thanks to the spontaneous co-operation of local inhabitants, eager to pose for foreign visitors.

Sampaguita Resort is placed at Tongo Point, the southern appendix of a small peninsula that stretches out towards Negros Island, at an equal distance (about 3 Km.) from Moalboal and the greater village of Panagsama. There’s plenty of points of interests and things to explore! Only a short walking distance from Moalboal Centre you’ll find The Orchid Garden, which you do not want to miss if you love flowers or you are an admirer of nature’s beauty! It has more than two hundred thousand plants and each of them would be worth a photo or even a macro photo. Especially interesting is the private collection of the garden owner, which has endemic local specimens and Thai and Malaysian rare subjects.

The Coliseum. This is a locally styled amphitheatre. On Saturdays they do cockfight with optional betting. However, the real show is not, as one could think, in the arena where the fight takes place, but in the public stands between the noisy crowd and the bookmaker, who stands shouting with a bunch of banknotes kept in his hands.

An adventure for everybody are the Kawasan Falls. Going by boat or car southwards, beyond Badian, once in Matutnao, you get to walk and climb on an easy road, crossing some woods several times and the Kawasan River, which originates from the hills. In about forty minutes, after having passed through a couple of small villages, you and your group will reach Kawasan Falls, a spectacular series of spring water falls that create a small lake, which the homonymous river departs from. Take a swim in the crystal clear but fresh waters of the lake and enjoy a natural massage under the main fall. It’s such a unique experience! Usually this excursion is scheduled on the last afternoon of your stay. So your equipment gets the time to dry and your body can outgas completely before you step on the plane and head back home.

Explore Panagsama by Night for a real special night life experience! There is disco, night club, American bar, cocktail lounge, everything in open air, under a giant gazebo, in the most casual and friendly way. Certainly a different experience for people who like to enjoy the night pleasures, but...the local way!!!

Moalboal is a village (of about 30.000 residents) almost entirely surrounded by water; bordered to the west by the Tañon Strait. From the western shoreline, you’ll see Negros Island. Moalboal is located 89 kilometres (55 mi) from Cebu City, about 2½ hours by bus or car. The reefs along the west coast are home to a great variety of marine life. Pescador Island, about 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) off the coast, is the most popular dive spot. The structure of the reef that follows the entire coast line has made the place ideal for scuba-diving and snorkelling. Divers enjoy easy access to the reef because the drop off is shallow and close by, but drops down to more than 40 metres (130 ft). Chances are good that you spot some enormous turtles who usually hang out here.

Cebu City, is known as "The Queen City of the South" and the first Spanish settlement in the Philippines where the imprint of the Spanish and the Roman Catholic culture is evident. It has been one of the most developed provinces and the main center of commerce, trade, education, and Industry.
